In the Spirit on the Lord’s Day

In the Spirit on the Lord’s Day

I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord,
which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. I, John,
who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the
kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called
Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Revelation 1:8-9
The Apostle John was between the ages of 93 and 97 when the angel came and gave him this prophecy. John was the only one of the disciples that
died a natural death, although religious leaders and authorities tried
to kill John in numerous ways, including throwing him in a vat of
boiling oil. They finally exiled him to the Isle of Patmos, essentially
a rock that served as an island for prisoners, with no food, water, or
other supplies. They didn’t expect him to live long there without any
support.

John could have said, “Woe is me. Lord, I have been faithful to you all
these years. I’m cold. I’m hungry and thirsty. I’m living in a cave.
What has it profited me to serve you?” Instead, he said: I was in the
Spirit on the Lord’s day…. (Revelation 1:10a). Instead of feeling
sorry for himself, this man is praying and in the Holy Ghost. He is
having a good time all by himself. He knew how to handle adverse
circumstances.

Prayer for Today

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for John’s example of facing hard situations with grace and
in the power of Your Spirit. Thank You for the privilege of bringing
every need and every concern to You and leaving them at Your feet. In
Jesus’ name, Amen.

Think on These Things

Isaiah 44:6
Revelation 11:17

May the LORD bless Nigeria, American and Israel and take care of us; May the LORD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the Lord lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

Holy Spirit Please Open Our Eyes

Holy Spirit Please Open Our Eyes

“He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you.”

John 16:14, NIV

Without the Holy Spirit to clarify the truth to our minds and confirm Who Jesus is in our hearts, we would “see” Jesus as just . . .

a man,

or a holy man,

or a prophet,

or a symbolic figure!

But the Holy Spirit opens our eyes to see and our minds to know and our hearts to receive that Jesus is more than just a man . . . or a prophet . . . or a teacher . . . or a revolutionary . . . or an icon . . . or a symbol. Jesus is . . .

The Messiah of Israel,

The Son of God,

The Saviour of the world,

The Reigning King . . .

God Himself in the flesh!

Blessings

May the LORD bless Nigeria, American and Israel and take care of us; May the LORD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the Lord lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

As we abide in Christ Jesus and allow His Word to reveal to us His will

Stained glass at St John the Baptist's Anglica...

As we abide in Christ Jesus and allow His Word to reveal to us His will

John 15:7 says: “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” As we abide in Jesus and allow His Word to reveal to us His will, then we have a foundation of faith. Our faith is not in what we presume, not in what we see, and not in religious practice, but it is in the Word of God. As we stay in Christ and let His Word dwell in us, then His Word fills us with faith. His Word is a revelation of His will; therefore, whatever we ask according to His Word we receive of the Father. Jesus gives us two great secrets to answered prayer.

First, we must be born again, and through Christ Jesus we are.

Second, we must let His Word reveal to us God’s will and fill us with faith. Then when we act on it and ask based on the Word, God gives it and performs it.

Have faith and ask!

May the LORD bless Nigeria, American and Israel and take care of us; May the LORD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the Lord lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

Praying in tongues refreshes and renews us

Praying in tongues refreshes and renews us

For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. (2 Corinthians 4:16)

You can be renewed every day by the Word of God and through praying in tongues. This spiritual renewal and refreshing is what keeps you afloat with joy, even in the midst of challenging situations. Christianity is living in God’s rest (Hebrew 4:10).

Praying in other tongues refreshes your spirit, your soul and your body; never forget that. Thus the next time you feel as though you’re almost overwhelmed or wearied with the hustle and bustle of the day’s activities, take some time to refresh yourself by praying in tongues.

There’s no dryness at all in the lives of those who pray in other tongues, for out of their innermost being flow rivers of living water (John 7:38). No wonder David, talking about this spiritual renewal and refreshing by the Holy Spirit, declared: “Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me….who satisfies thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s”. (Psalm 103:1-5).

The eagle is a bird which is renowned for its continuous state of fresh plumage. In the same way, praying in tongues helps keep you continually refreshed vitalized, strengthened and renewed like the eagle.

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for the refreshing and day-to-day renewal that I experience as I speak in other tongues. Like the eagle, I’m transformed and invigorated as I spend quality time speaking in other tongues today, in the Name of Jesus Christ! Amen!

May Our God The Almighty prosper Nigeria and Israel and defend us from all our enemies in Jesus Christ Name, Amen!

For the Kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost

Stained glass at St John the Baptist's Anglica...

For the Kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost (Romans 14:17)

Is it possible to be full of joy when faced with temptations or hard times? Emphatically yes! As a matter of fact, there’s no better time to express the joy of the Spirit that’s in your heart than in the face of adversity. You were created by God to be joyful at all times. Therefore no matter the challenges or trials that you face, express joy in the Holy Ghost; it’s a demonstration of your faith in the Lord.

James 1:2-3 says “……count it all joy, when ye fall into diverse temptations; knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.” This means that you must be exuberant with praise to the Lord in spite of them. This kind of attitude sets the forces of heaven in operation on your behalf and causes all that concerns you to be perfected. For you, it’s victory all the time; but the key is learning to keep your joy alive and afloat, irrespective and independent of circumstances.

Whether you feel happy or not, you should continually make melodies of joy, praise and thanksgiving in your heart to the Lord! The Bible tells us something striking about joy in Isaiah 12:3, it says, “Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.”

Salvation refers to all the good things that are yours in Christ Jesus – divine health, prosperity, success, progress, protection, et. The Word says with joy shall you draw out; that means experience or cause to come into manifestation those great and wonderful blessings that are yours in Christ. It emphasizes the connection between your faith and being joyful.

Make up your mind that this year, nothing is going to rob you of the joy of the Lord that’s in your spirit. Decide that you’ll be joyful no matter what! This is important because your joyful attitude in the face of tests and trial is a demonstration of your faith in the Lord, and in His ability to put you over and above every situation.

Prayer:

The joy of the Holy Ghost is in my heart today, expressed in praise and worship to the Lord, in honour and appreciation of Your ability O Lord to put me over above the adversities of life, in Jesus Christ Name! Amen!

May Our God The Almighty prosper Nigeria and Israel and defend us from all our enemies in Jesus Christ Name, Amen!

The Holy Spirit

Stained glass at St John the Baptist's Anglica...

The Holy Spirit

John 7:38 says: “He that believeth on Me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.”

We understand that this is speaking of the Holy Ghost. Jesus tells us that when we believe on Him, then the Holy Ghost comes into our lives and we are empowered. When it says, “out of his belly shall flow rivers…”, these are rivers of living water.

The rivers include enablement, measures of grace, the things that God enables and empowers us to do with the help of the Holy Ghost. It is not by our own strength, but it is the strength of the Holy Ghost. Jesus wants us to know that we as Christians, when we are born again, when we are saved, we are no longer our own, and it is not we who have to do the work, but it is God who is willing to do the work in us, for us, and through us. Remember, it is God who gave His Son that we might be saved. Here it is expressed that the Holy Ghost comes and empowers us to experience salvation. We are not alone, but we are strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

Be strong in the Lord!

May Our God The Almighty prosper Nigeria and Israel and defend us from all our enemies in Jesus Christ Name, Amen!

Empowered by the Holy Spirit

Empowered by the Holy Spirit

“Do not be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit.”

(Ephesians 5:18)

Do you ever feel like the Christian life doesn’t work for you? Do you feel it’s just too hard? If you answered “Yes,” read on.

D. L. Moody was talking with a friend one day about this very problem. Placing an empty drinking glass on the table before his friend, he said, “Tell me, how can we get the air out of this glass?”

His friend immediately replied, “You could remove it with a pump.” Moody reminded him that the resulting vacuum would shatter the glass. The friend thought hard before admitting he was stumped. Moody then brought a pitcher and filled the glass with water.

“The air is now removed,” he said. “In the same way, it doesn’t work to try forcing the sin out of our lives; more sin just rushes in to replace it. But being filled with the Holy Spirit does the trick.”

The key to living the Christian life is not the result of trying to act like a Christian. That only leads to frustration. The secret is developing your relationship with God empowered by the Holy Spirit. As God’s Spirit fills us, and as we come to better understand who God really is, our lives are changed—from the inside out. Right behavior is merely the end product.

Be filled with the Holy Spirit.

Church-of-the-Holy-Spirit-Jihlava2011

Filled with the Holy Spirit

Ephesians 5:18, NIV

God has clearly commanded you and me to “be filled with the Spirit.” But an unconfessed sin or resistance to His authority will block the “flow” of His life within us. If we do not deal with it, our spiritual lives become stagnant and we lose our attractiveness and usefulness to God. And we have nothing refreshing about us that would draw other people to Christ.

What is hindering you from being filled with the Holy Spirit? To be filled with the Holy Spirit is to be under His moment-by-moment control. He has not been given to you so that you can keep Him confined to a particular area in your life. Let Him loose! He is Lord! The amount of power you experience to live a victorious, triumphant Christian life is directly proportional to the freedom you give the Spirit to be Lord of your life!

Blessings

Suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, . . . and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit.

Two Eagles

Two Eagles (Photo credit: Travis S.)

Suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, . . . and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit.

Acts 2:2-4, NKJV

On The Wings Of Faith

I understand that a turkey and an eagle react differently to the threat of a storm. A turkey reacts by running under the barn, hoping the storm won’t come near. On the other hand, an eagle leaves the security of its nest and spreads its wings to ride the air currents of the approaching storm, knowing they will carry it higher in the sky than it could soar on its own.

Based on your reaction to the storms of life, which are you?

A turkey or an eagle?

It’s natural for me to be a turkey in my emotions, but I have chosen to be an eagle in my spirit. And as I have spread my wings of faith to embrace the “Wind,” placing my trust in Jesus and Jesus alone, I have experienced quiet, “everyday” miracles:

His joy has balanced my pain.

His power has lifted my burden.

His peace has calmed my worries.

So . . . would you spread your wings of faith and soar?!

Blessings
