Those Who Know Their GOD

Isaiah_40-31: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint

Text:

Daniel 11:32 (New Living Translation)
He will flatter and win over those who have violated the covenant. But the people who know their God will be strong and will resist him

Introduction:

In those days of moral decadence, people had no regards for Christian Ethics. Therefore, false doctrines took over many pulpits. The wall of partition between the church and the world was broken down. Every attempt to rebuild it proved abortive. However the few that knew their God stood firm and they were not put to shame.

Who are those who know their God?

1. The children of God
John 3:3
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

2. Those who are vigilant and sober
1 Peter 5:8
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

3. Those who have the mind of Christ
1 Corinthians 2:16 (New Living Translation)
For, “Who can know the LORD’s thoughts? Who knows enough to teach him?” But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ.

What do they know about their God?

1. They know that He is holy
Hebrews 12:14
Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

1 Peter 1:15-16
But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation

Matthew 5:48
Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

2. They know that He is a disciplinarian
Hebrews 12:6 (New International Version)
because the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.”

3. They know that He can do all things
Luke 1:37
For with God nothing shall be impossible

How can we know God?

1. Through Jesus Christ
John 14:16
“I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever;

2. Confess Him as Lord and Saviour
Romans 10:9
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Some benefits of knowing God

1. All round prosperity
3 John 2
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

2. You will be strong and do exploit
Isaiah 4:31

Conclusion

Apostle Paul wrote, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Hence forth there is laid up for me crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous Judge shall give me”
I Timothy 4:7-8
